Acura of Libertyville to Bring Avengers to Liberty Theater

, through special arrangement with Marvel Studios, will bring the highly anticipated action feature film “The Avengers” to the Liberty Theater in Libertyville, Illinois on Wednesday, May 2, for a private screening—two days prior to the official release date.  This special “private screening” is being shown at no cost to approximately 600 customers of the north suburban luxury car retailer.  

 “The Avengers”, slated for official release on Friday, May 4, stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Tom Hiddleston, with Stellan Skarsgard and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, and directed by Joss Whedon.  Marvel’s “The Avengers” is an engaging, character-driven story packed with action, adventure, and special effects.  When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster.  Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins to assemble the iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow.  Marvel’s “The Avengers” is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963, and a comics institution ever since.  “Marvel’s The Avengers will be, I believe, this year’s biggest film – and with the Acura tie-in, this screening is the perfect way to show my appreciation to our fantastically loyal customers” remarked Glenn Bockwinkel, Co-Owner and General Manager of Acura of Libertyville, who has sponsored the screening.

 “Acura is excited to continue our presence as the official vehicle of S.H.I.E.L.D. in Marvel Films (Captain America: The First Avenger, THOR, and The Avengers),” said Mike Accavitti, Vice President of National Marketing Operations – Acura Division.  S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and Marvel Super Heroes including Hawkeye and Black Widow can be seen driving militarized Acura vehicles throughout the highly anticipated film, including the MDX, ZDX, and TL models, along with a cameo from the entirely new 2013 RDX.  “I am very excited that Libertyville and our customers can be part of the action,” Mr. Bockwinkel commented.“When I first learned about the movie and the opportunity to present a special screening for our customers, I insisted on hosting it at the historic Liberty Theater,” Mr. Bockwinkel continued.  The Liberty Theater (708 N. Milwaukee Ave.,Libertyville) is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2012 and has been an institution in downtown Libertyville since its inception. 

Marlon Brando got his unofficial ‘film career’ start at the Liberty Theater and wrote of his antics as an usher for the theater in his autobiography, Songs My Mother Taught Me.  This year’s premier of Marvel’s The Avengers, hosted by Acura of Libertyville, is not the theater’s first premier, however.  In 1942, the premier of Hollywood film “Desperate Journey” was relocated to the Liberty Theater to recognize the town’s incredible support of war bonds.  “It turns out we’re not the first to come up with this idea, but its been 70 years since the last premier so I am pretty excited that Acura of Libertyville can plan a role in bringing this excitement back to our community,” Mr. Bockwinkel remarked.

Tickets are being provided free of charge to registered Acura of Libertyville customers, who will also receive complimentary popcorn and soda to enjoy during the show.  To be part of the action, guests must have received an email invitation and must RSVP ahead of time to attend the screening.  (Admittance only by prior RSVP)  Guests will also be treated to an “Avengers Premiere Gift Bag” to remember the occasion.  “The response has been tremendous – as many as 100 RSVPs in a single day,” Mr. Bockwinkel said.
