Culligan's Expanded Facility Open for Business

When he was growing up, Libertyville Mayor Terry Weppler remembers hearing a particular commercial jingle: "Hey, Culligan man!"

"I think everyone in Chicagoland knew that," said Weppler.

On Tuesday, he was among several dignitaries who welcomed Culligan's newest facility—217,000 square feet of manufacturing, assembly, warehousing and office space—to Libertyville.

The expanded facility is located at 1540 Harris Road.

"Thank you very much for choosing Libertyville to expand here," said Weppler.

"A lot of us take fresh water for granted," said Weppler. "It's great to have Culligan working to provide that most precious resource to countries throughout the world."

The Culligan expansion features 75,000 square feet of manufacturing space, which is triple the amount of space in the previous facility. There are two full bays of assembly floor space, along with 34,000 square feet of office space.

"It's a very proud day for us at Culligan," said Allan Connolly, chief operating officer for Culligan. "It's more than just a facility. It's more than just an expansion."

The space, Connolly said, allows Culligan, for example, to assemble five mobile water treatment containers at one time that can be sent to the developing world.

"Congratulations on your success so far," said Dan Seals, assistant director of the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity.
