Self-Checkout Lanes Out at Libertyville Jewel-Osco

Owners of the grocery store have decided to eliminate self-checkout lanes in some local stores.

Do you prefer to use the self-checkout line when you are grocery shopping?

If so, you may not be pleased by a decision by Jewel-Osco to remove self-checkout lanes from some of its local stores. Self-checkout lanes have been removed from stores in Libertyville, Palatine, Arlington Heights on Vail Street and Schaumburg on Schaumburg Road with plans to eliminate more self-checkout lanes in coming months, according to the Daily Herald.

New ownership is aiming to create an environment where they can "better connect" with their customers and plans to add shorter express lanes and hire more cashiers, according to the Daily Herald.

Jewel-Osco is under new ownership and in recent months, got rid of its preferred card and initiated a mandatory cart-to-car policy where your bagger is expected to follow customers, and their carts, out to their cars.

What do you think about the elimination of self-checkout lines at Jewel-Osco? Will it change your shopping habits?
