Wisma Liquor License Approved

Village board approved a liquor license for Wisma at Tuesday's meeting.

Wisma customers will soon be able to enjoy alcoholic beverages at the store, or purchase them to-go.

Village board trustees unanimously approved amending a village ordinance to increase the number of Class A liquor Licenses from 11 to 12 at Tuesday’s board meeting.

The amendment allows the village to issue a liquor license to Wisma, an upscale organic takeout food store, 528 N. Miwaukee Ave.

Wisma plans to offer more than 20 bottles of wine, each for $20 or less, and all will be available for sampling before purchase at any time and any day. Wisma will also offer more than 10 local, handcrafted beers.

”[Since] a lot of people don’t want to buy a big bottle of wine if they have never tried it before, we will have bottles open every day so you can try it before buying the bottle. This guarantees you will like it,” Wisma owner John des Rosiers said.
