Two years ago, I was working for Caribou Coffee (@LvilleCaribou).
The Libertyville Store serves an active community. Being steps from the Metra Station it stays quite busy most mornings and evenings.
One morning I served a customer who was in a hurry to get to a meeting. Being so, I simply gave her the coffee and sent her on her way knowing that I would see her again.

Turns out - the next day I did. We spoke of the previous morning and where she was off to - a meeting of The Main Streeet Libertyville Economic Restructuring Committee (ERC).
She filled me in. Being an ever curious type I asked if I could attend the next meeting. She kindly accepted.

I don't know if it was the fact that I brought coffee for everyone or that I was just interested in helping out; yet, two months later I was Co-Chairing the Committee and helping with events and promotions. Six months later, I was Chairing the Committee and co-creating what is known today as The .
The next Spring, between busy periods, I was tidying the Caribou shop, wiping tables, stocking serving stations, etc.
I met a gentleman who was working on a very unique website called MetroAlive.com. The images on his screen caught my eye. Again, being the curious type...
I asked how things were going. He acknowledged that there were opportunities in the local market.
As then Chair of the Main Street Libertyville ERC, I invited him to do a product demonstration for the committee.
Two months later I was helping LibertyvilleAlive.com develop into what is is today.
Community.
