Health & Fitness

Is Your Community Fit?

How is your community doing?

I spent 10 years as a Health & Fitness Professional with outfits such as Fitness Formula Clubs and Lifetime Fitness.

As a Program Coordinator - I helped roll-out both Local and National initiatives. I specialized in Corporate Health & Wellness and Endurance Performance.

Metrics were a large part if the success of these programs. As a cyclist and runner, I took special interest in the numbers behind the science of endurance training.

If you want to see improvement as well as a return on your investment in your training program - you must set a baseline measure.

For our Endurance Training Program - we chose Heart Rate.

We took base measures at the beginning of the program that established training limits and objectives.

If your goal is to lose weight and just finish a race - there are parameters to keep an eye on.

If your goal is to fine tune speed and win the race - there are specific parameters to keep an eye on.

Sure - you can ignore these numbers, but, it'll cost you: the race and the (waste of) money.

Train to little - you lose. Train to much - you lose.

The same goes for both your online and offline communities that you're reaching out to using social media and social networking.

What do you want from your communities:

  • More fans and followers?
  • More site traffic?
  • Thought leadership?

What are you measuring on your social platforms:

  • Awareness?
  • Engagement?
  • Sentiment?
  • Activity?

How are you measuring? When and how often are you measuring?

Have you defined your Active Users?

Are your communities performing...and maintaining the pace?

More on that in my next post.
