Who Would You Consider Closed-Minded?

Pastor Andy is asked who he would consider to be closed-minded. His answer might surprise you...

Dear Pastor Andy, who is more closed minded? Atheists or theists (generally speaking), and why? Also, how do you define closed minded?

My Reply:
You know, it's interesting, but I have actually found that the ones who are closed-minded are often those who claim to be open-minded. I realize that sounds backwards, but hear me out.

Most people will agree that in most cases, there is a right and a wrong. However, many who claim to be "open-minded", also happen to believe that Truth is relative. Christians are accused of being closed-minded because, instead of accepting many theories and beliefs as true, we choose to keep to one Truth.

In everything, there has to be an Absolute Truth, regardless of one's opinion. To say that there is no truth is to say that everything is actually untrue, or false. So those who claim to be "open-minded", who say that they believe everything, cannot actually be "open-minded", for they refuse to believe that one Truth exists.

Also, to say that something is false, or a matter of opinion, means that something has to be true or fact. That One thing that is true and fact is what we Christians stand on. Does that mean we Christians are more closed-minded?

But now when many "open-minded" people are set on their beliefs, feelings, or understandings, even when faced with evidence that one thing, and only one thing, can be true, they will continue to hold to their pre-misconceptions, continuously rejecting the Truth, thus closing their minds.

So in summary, those who are not willing to believe in the One Absolute Truth, those who claim to be "open-minded", are actually closed-minded, for they refuse to believe that which is true.
