Sealed With a Kiss

Did you know kissing is very beneficial for your health? Learn how a simple smooch can increase immunity, help with aging, improve your smile and more!

What do working out, eating right and managing our stress all have in common?  For most of us they are activities that we know benefit our health, but we don’t always enjoy doing!  Wouldn’t it be great if there was something we loved to do, that helped our health as well?

E.E. Cummings said “kisses are a better fate than wisdom”.  I don’t know how many believe in fate, but kissing can tell you a lot about someone.  Not only is kissing fun, but studies are showing it has many health benefits too! Kissing actually elicits a slue of physiological responses that can help everything from our teeth to allergies!

The next time you are enjoying a lip lock – think of all the things those kisses are helping!

A Healthy Smile – Kissing increases saliva production which can help wipe away bacteria and plaque on your teeth.  Want fewer cavities at your next check up?  Pucker up!

Look Younger – We all know how to work out our arms and legs at the gym.  What about our face?  Kissing uses nearly 30 facial muscles!  What a great way to keep our faces firm and slow the aging process!

Bye Bye Allergies – A Japanese study shows that kissing actually reduces blood levels of IgE which is an allergy antibody.  Histamine production is said to slow while kissing.  Next time you are reaching for an allergy pill, grab your loved one instead!

Natural Stress Reliever – Your body releases endorphins and oxytocin during kissing.  These are your bodies feel-good, calming AND bonding chemicals.

Immunity Boost – When you kiss, you exchange germs.  As bad as it sounds, it’s actually a good thing!  Your body reacts to those germs and produces antibodies which help you from getting sick!

Let’s face it, everyone loves a great kiss.  Kissing is the perfect mind, body and soul healer.  The next time you need a pick me up, instead of reaching for the chocolate, grab your mate!

Great article... and great fun! Who knew? Your information is physiologicalIy sound - I just never thought of that before! I am delighted to reach for my husband instead of the chocolate... just so I don't have to give up the chocolate! ;) Thanks for the breath of fresh air!

Jacque - Thanks so much for reading! Have that piece of chocolate with your husband - double the health benefits!

I think there is another benefit to kissing; If you are kissing someone (and vice versa) who really appreciates you in every way, then kissing is a great self esteem boost and that is not a small thing. (I think I will be interviewing kissing candidates in the near future) ;) xoxox
