Homegoods that have us fevered with excitement!

We are always on the look out for emerging trends, products that catch our eye, and ways to creatively freshen up exsisting merchandise already on hand without a bank-breaking overhaul.

It seems that its human nature to be moved by novelty and newness, but the trick is to incorporate newness without the Keeping Up With the Jones' mentality. We think trends should serve as a point of inspiration to work with what you have and adding something new if needed.

While not a new trend by any means, we are still loving Edision bulbs and pared down, rustic, and industrial modern lighting. Edison bulbs cast such a warm, ambient glow that can't be matched by high powered incandescent or CFLs. Small table lamps are perfect for a desk or a bookshelf focal point. Even modern fixtures look neat with a traditional flame tipped Edison bulb!

As much as we love deep, dark espresso stained wood, lighter woods reminiscent of weathered barnwood have been popping up for a while and add a nice vintage feel. Yes- it is perfectly acceptable and encouraged to mix your wood tones, its a great way to keep things from feeling too predictable and boring. The trick is to either blend styles or to choose a piece that will be an accent but blend with the rest of the room pieces.

Speaking of vintage pieces, we love the look of mercury glass! With the speckled bits of shiny silver its a wonderful addition to a mantle in the form of various sized votives or candle sticks, a bowl filled with lush green orbs looks amazing on a coffee table. Mercury glass is great to have on hand for festive holiday decorating! Again, we encourage you to mix and match your metals- we see a lot of people in town gravitate to warm/ gold tones, mix it up a little and add some silver sparkle!
