Flash Flood Warning in Lake County

Avoid areas where water covers the roadway.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Lake and McHenry counties until noon Friday, July 22.

The National Weather Service says its radar indicated slow-moving thunderstorms with very heaving rainfall across the area.

The northern half of Lake and McHenry counties have received the most rainfall so far this morning and would be most at risk for flash flooding with additional rainfall, according to the National Weather Service.

Portions of Lake Counties and McHenry counties already have received two to three inches of rain and an additional inch or more is possible through noon.

Residents are advised not to drive vehicles into areas where the water covers the roadway because the water depth may be too great to allow vehicles to pass through safely.
