1. Libertyville Junior Woman's Club Fundraiser Event

Where/When: Libertyville Civic Center; Friday, Feb. 11, 6:30 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Why Go?: Libertyville Junior Woman's Club hosts Parents' and Kids' Night Out at the Civic Center this Friday night. LJWC members and teen assistants will entertain the kids with crafts, games and movies to allow parents the chance for an evening out.

Pricing: $10 for the first child; $5 for each additional child. Children must be potty trained.

Why Go: Experience breathtaking acrobatics, vibrant costumes, time-honored theatrics and traditional Chinese dance performances.

Pricing: $33/$28/$24 for general admission; $31/$26/$22 for seniors, staff, alumni; $16 for CLC students; $13 for children under 12.

Why Go?: Enjoy an evening of music by composer Ralph Vaughan Williams and performed by Soprano Eleanor Ranney sponsored by the Friends of Ryerson Woods.

Pricing: $15 per person; $10 for friends of Ryerson Woods members.

Where/When: ; Sunday, Feb. 13, 2 p.m.

Why Go?: Enjoy a world-class performance of old time radio selections by the Those Were the Days Radio Players. Lee Bassett and Kathryn Mann will perform love songs by Irving Berlin, Cole Porter and George Gershwin. In honor of Valentine's Day, there will be chocolate too!

Pricing: Free.

Where/When:  ; Saturday, Feb. 12, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 13, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Why Go?: Shop at the premier antique market in Grayslake.

Pricing: $6 for adults; free for children 12 and under.

Where/When: College of Lake County - Grayslake Campus, 19351 W. Washington St.; Saturday, Feb. 12, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.

Why Go?: A special performance of the spoken word in poetry to celebrate Black History Month.

Pricing: Free.

Where/When: ; Sunday, Feb. 13, 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Why Go?: See the one-person gallery of paintings by Patty Rodgers and listen to her classical guitar music. Taste special treats from in Grayslake and the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in Libertyville.

Pricing: A donation of $20 is suggested.

 

 

8. 

Where/When: The Improv Playhouse, 116 Lake Street, Libertyville, Saturday, Feb. 12, 7:30 – 9 p.m.

Why Go?: Comedy show performed by hilarious eight member troupe.

Pricing: $7 for all seats, $5 for IP students.

 

9. Stargazing - Roving and Roaming the Red Planet - Skokie Valley Astronomers Meeting

Where/When: Ryerson Woods Welcome Center, 21950 N. Riverwoods Rd., Riverwoods; Friday, Feb. 11, 8 - 9:30 pm.

Why Go?: Enjoy a presentation on astronomy and outdoor sky viewing (if the weather allows). Review NASA's exploration of Mars with a representative from the Adler Planetarium. Sponsored by the Lake County Forest Preserve District, www.lcfpd.org.

Pricing: Free.
