Why Go?: After you've taken the basic introductory class, take Canoe II to learn more maneuvers from a certified instructor from the American Canoe Association. Must be 14 years old or older to participate. All equipment will be supplied. Please bring a sack lunch and drink and meet at the giant umbrella next to the marina. Adult supervision is required. A completed waiver and health form must be handed in on the day of the program. Why Go?: Tour the home of Adlai E. Stevenson, the influential American known as "the Man from Illinois" and see where he wrote speeches, reviewed world events and relaxed. The tour is open to everyone 8 years old or older. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Where / When: Cuneo Mansion and Gardens, 1350 N. Milwaukee Ave., Vernon Hills; 11:30 a.m., 1 and 2:30 p.m., Friday, June 24.
Why Go?: Walk through the beautiful grounds of the Cuneo Mansion and Gardens. The landscaping was designed by world-renowned landscape architect Jens Jensen in the early 1900s. The mansion contains the Cuneo family collection of fine antiques, sculptures and paintings.
Pricing: $10 for adults; $9 for students and seniors; free for Loyola University Chicago students, faculty and staff with valid ID, clergy and military with valid ID

Where/When: Greenbelt Forest Preserve, 1215 Greenbay Rd., North Chicago; 7 - 9 p.m., Friday, June 24.
Why Go?: Enjoy the magic of the campfire, roast marshmallows, listen to music, tell stories, make crafts and experience nature at night during this family event. Enter the Greenbelt Forest Preserve from the west side of Green Bay Road, south of Belvidere Road, across from the entrance to the Greenbelt Cultural Center. Meet at Shelter D.

Where/When: Viper Alley, 275 Parkway Dr., Lincolnshire; 8:30 - 10 p.m., Friday, June 24.
Why Go?: Listen to the rock and roll band that once shared the stage with Jennifer Hudson. Josh and the Empty Pockets is a group of friends who formed a band and have toured extensively. They are managed by David Spero who has also managed the Nelson Brothers, the Eagles, Cat Stevens and others.
