Viewfinder: Honoring Libertyville Veteran Don Carter

World War II Veteran Don Carter returned from an honor flight to Washington, DC, and was surprised by a restaurant full of family and friends wishing to recognize and honor his service.

On Aug. 10, Libertyville resident Don Carter joined about 95 other area veterans on a day trip to visit the World War II War Memorial in Washington, DC, along with sites and presentations dedicated to honor the service and sacrifices made.

Carter described the experience as "monumental" and declared that the experience was "just perfect in every way."

Honor Flight Chicago was founded to recognize Veterans – most specifically WWII Veterans – with a day of honor, remembrance and celebration from a proud and grateful nation.
