Libertyville Medical Center Moves to New Local Home, Expands Walk-in Services
Orthopedic specialists offer more to community.
The MidAmerica Hand to Shoulder Clinic of Libertyville now has a little more elbow room. It recently moved into its new, larger home located at 1419 Peterson Rd., also in Libertyville. The new facility literally opens the door to greater access for patients who need immediate treatment for any orthopedic injury – not just hand, arm and shoulder pain.
Another attractive clinic option is that appointments aren’t necessary. Walk-ins are welcome and specialists are available to treat everything from fractures, to skin lacerations to general bone and joint pain on the spot.
“We can do essentially anything that can be done in a hospital emergency room,” said Dr. Marcus Talerico, MD an orthopedic surgeon with the MidAmerica Hand to Shoulder Clinic. “People may think of a clinic as a place to treat minor injuries, but we are equipped with the latest X-ray technology and can immediately treat patients seeking relief from painful conditions.”

A visit to the new MidAmerica clinic may also save time and eliminate a trip to the ER. Many who are first examined in the emergency room are often referred to a specialist for further treatment. By visiting the MidAmerica clinic for non-emergency medical issues, patients can essentially go directly to the specialist first for outpatient treatment and avoid a first trip to the hospital. Patients also stand to trim their out-of-pocket medical costs.
“Many health insurance plans carry large ER co-pays and deductibles that may discourage patients from seeking treatment at their local hospital,” Dr. Talerico added. “Within the outpatient setting of our facility, patients aren’t faced with medical costs that are nearly as high – plus they benefit from the same high-level treatment offered by experienced orthopedic specialists.”
