November 3rd at Improv Playhouse: A night of political comedy and satire

Improv Playhouse thinks it’s time for voters to laugh a little before they go the polls.  “Herbert Hoover didn't know how prophetic he was when he said, ‘Blessed are the young, for they shall inherit the national debt.’”, says David Stuart, Executive Producer at I.P.  Mr. Stuart has lined up a double “bill” for the evening including nationally booked President Bill Clinton look-alike, Dale Leigh.  “We have actually booked Dale and a terrific Sarah Palin look-alike for a private party roast and debate for Friday so we thought we’d hook Dale as well into our comedy night before the election.”  And the line up appears to be a pretty formidable night of improv comedy for the family friendly early show and stand up for the late show.    Guest improv comedy team Power Pop Culture Radio will bring an interactive comedy element to the main stage at 7:30 followed by a hefty line-up of comedians at 9:00 hosted by Zanies regular Dobie Maxwell.  In addition to Leigh’s Bill Clinton and Maxwell, fresh from playing at NYC’s The Gotham will be Lake County born and bred Luai Hodi, world’s funniest Lutheran Karl Newyear (Waukegan) and up and coming Jeremiah Frazier.  Asked about why a night of political satire Stuart replied, “I’m a political junkie who like so many takes this election very seriously, however, we need a good chuckle at our own expense sometimes. The political campaigns have been so polarizing.  It was Harry Truman who said, ‘If you can’t convince them, confuse them’.  I’d say for this night if you can’t convince them, make ‘em laugh!”   Performance times: 7:30 & 9:00 (BYOB). Tickets pre-sell or at the door for $10.00 Adults. $7.00 Seniors, Students (w/ID) & Military.  $15/10 for both shows.  Visit www.improvplayhouse.com , info@improvplayhouse.com or call 847-968-4529 for ticket orders
