Volleyball team to raise funds for breast cancer research

The Mundelein High School Varsity Volleyball Team will take on Libertyville in a fundraiser for breast cancer awareness on Wednesday, October 9, at 6 p.m. in the main gym. Freshman and JV start at 5:00) All money raised will go to the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation [LSCRF], one of the nation’s leading breast cancer research and education charities, based in Chicago.Funds will be raised during the volleyball game through corporate and individual sponsorships, t-shirt sales, breast cancer bandana and/or bracelet sales and a raffle that will include baskets of assorted goods. The Libertyville team and fans will also contribute funds for the Foundation.More information is available from Varsity Coach George Dressen atgdressen@d120.org or from Event Coordinator Bryan Wilcox atbryan.loriwilcox@gmail.com.LSCRF was founded in 1985 in memory of Lynn Sage, a Chicago-area wife, mother and daughter who battled breast cancer for six years before she died at the age of 39. Their mission is to support the understanding, research and treatment of breast cancer in partnership with Chicago’s Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University. Their administrative costs are less than seven percent so that more funds are available for the research and education projects that they support.
