New Tradition Chorus Concert to Save Brainerd

The New Tradition Chorus will bring its a capella
harmonies to Libertyville in a concert on Saturday, September 7th at 3:00 pm,
at the First Presbyterian Church, 219 West Maple Avenue in Libertyville. The
concert will be a benefit for the Brainerd Community Center, hoping to raise
awareness of the importance of the March 18, 2014 referendum that will
determine the future of the historic Brainerd Building. BCC board member Jill
Harkaway Holland stated, “The concert is the first of many to follow when the
Brainerd Auditorium is renovated, and an example of the type of cultural event
which Libertyville and the surrounding community will enjoy at that time.”

Chicago’s most prestigious men’s a cappella chorus, the
New Tradition Chorus has won 18 International first place medals, combining
exciting musical harmony, dazzling choreography, and eye-catching costumes
since 1982. The group, under the direction of Jay Giallombardo, has sung the
national anthem at Chicago Bears, Slaughter and Rush football games and at Chicago
White Sox baseball games and has performed at Disneyland, among other venues.
Appearing throughout the Midwest, the Chorus has performed with the  Lake Forest and Northbrook Symphony
Orchestras, and has appeared in performance with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

The New Tradition Chorus has also performed at many charity
events and community functions, and as part of the Youth in Harmony program has
helped to conduct workshops for students at Grant High School in Fox Lake, and
for Conrady Middle School and Stagg High School students in Palos Park.
