Rabbi to Describe Journey from Church to Torah
Come and hear the intriguing story of an evangelical Christian Pastor and his wife who, in exploring the roots of their faith and searching for the truth, arrive at the doorstep of Judaism.
Yaakov Ephraim Parisi and his wife Sarah Devorah, began their journey of discovery in the late '80's, when he was serving as pastor of an evangelical Christian church in California. In 1992 they became pastors of their own church in Southern Oklahoma.
Eventually they began to embrace Torah concepts, observing Shabbat and keeping kosher. When their church closed they began the rigorous process of conversion to Judaism. Today, Parisi said that he and his wife are Torah-observant Jews living in Israel. Parisi will share the couples story in a lecture at the Aspen Drive Library in Vernon Hills.
