SEMINAR and BOOK LAUNCH: How to Recognize a Service Dog

Please join us for a lecture by author & veteran Lon Hodges one of the editors and force behind In Dogs We Trust.

Every day service men & women return home with injuries both seen & unseen that require the help of a service dog. As a business owner, you’re required to admit them. The question is, “how do you recognize a service dog?”

Municipalities recently started to require I.D.s for service dogs, but Gander a certifed service dog, one of the subjects of In Dogs We Trust with more than 200,000 followers on Facebook does not have such an ID. That piece of paper would virtually prove that the animal in question is not a service dog.

Lon Hodge of Vernon Hills says roughly 21 servicemen, past and present, commit suicide every day. But thanks to Gander, Hodge’s highly-trained and loving service dog, Hodge said he narrowly avoided being a casualty.

Hodge, now 60, plans to discuss his book In Dogs We Trust and educate the business community on how to recognize & handle service dogs during a forum at 7 p.m. Feb. 13 at Hansa Coffee Roasters in Libertyville.

This event is free and open to the public. Coffee & Food will be served.
