A local furniture retailer, automotive center, eatery, home improvement store, women's group committee, and high school representative were all recipients of the GLMV Chamber 2012 business awards. Awards were presented at the GLMV Winter Gala, January 26 at Cuneo Mansion & Gardens.
Member of the Year - Gary Steinhafel, Steinhafels Furniture Vernon Hills, was named Member of the Year for generously hosting the GLMV's successful Fall Business Stampede & Expo, highlighted by a special presentation by Gary Steinhafel.
Entrepreneur of the Year - Jeff Shapiro, Real Urban Barbeque, Vernon Hills, was recognized for being a new and leading area business that actively participates in community and chamber events.

Commerce Award - Andy Christiansen, Home Depot - Mundelein, rec ognized for providing support for GLMV Fall Fashion Show, and for undertaking a painting project at Chamber offices.
Community Service Award - Jeanne Silver, Carstar - Mundelein, for giving back to the community, including recycled rides charity event, where she restores and supplies automobiles to needy families, plus other initiatives.

Dollars For Scholars Recognition Award -Nancy Shipley, Vernon Hills High School District 128, recognized for spearheading GLMV Dollars For Scholars college scholarship program fundraising events, such as Battle of the Bands and Dining For Dollars.
Legislative Award - Advocate Condell Medical Center, for sponsorship/hosting annual GLMV Fall Legislative Breakfast.
Volunteer of the Year Awards -GLMV Chamber Women's Networking Committee: Ruth Quijada, Bank Financial; Jackie Flick, American Chartered Bank; Stephanie Barrons, Shaw Media; Sara Velander, Country Financial, for producing the GLMV Fall Fashion Show and overseeing Women's Networking Group Monthly Luncheons.
Heart Award - Marian Rodriguez, Carstar-Mundelein, recognized for her heart of gold when it comes to assisting the chamber.
Service Award - GLMV Public Relations/Marketing Director Carol Levin recognized for 10 years of service to the Chamber.
