Dreamland Comics in Libertyville Participating in Halloween ComicFest

The festivities will be held Oct. 26-27 and will include the distribution of free Halloween-themed comics.

Comic book fans, this is your weekend.

More than 1,400 comic book specialty shops across the country will participate in Halloween ComicFest 2013 this weekend, Oct. 26 and 27. The festivities will include free comics to anyone who visits a participating shop. There will be 22 Halloween-themed comics and mini comics in the giveaway, including "Batman," "Spider-man," "Thor," "Adventure Time," "Archie" and "Sonic."

Dreamland Comics at 105 W. Rockland Road in Libertyville is among the shops participating in the event. The shop will also offer a special 20 percent off sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. For more information, click here or call the shop at (847) 680-0727.

According to Diamond Comic Distributors, comic book fans can also pick up a costume contest button from a participating comic shop and submit a picture of themselves in costume to the Halloween ComicFest website for a chance to win prizes.

"Comic and Halloween fans will have a blast at this year’s event as more stores are participating, hosting their own activities to make the weekend more memorable in addition to more Halloween comics being given out for free," said Dan Manser, Diamond’s director of marketing. "Halloween ComicFest is another great free comic day, allowing fans to dress up in their scariest, goofiest, most remarkable Halloween costumes, and have fun with other fans during the weekend."
