Tree Lighting, 'Dickens of a Holiday' Planned in Libertyville

Mark your calendars!

Libertyville is gearing up to kick-off the holiday season, starting with the tree lighting on Nov. 29 and followed by MainStreet Libertyville's "Dickens of a Holiday" festivities in December.

The village's tree lighting will start with a sing-along of traditional Christmas carols at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 29 in Cook Park, followed by Santa's arrival at 7 p.m. The tree lighting will follow.

MainStreet Libertyville's "Dickens of a Holiday" festivities will be held Dec. 7 and 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in Cook Park to visit with children and take photos from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m.

Petranek's Pharmacy, 426 N. Milwaukee Ave., will host the Children's Holiday Shoppe, where children can purchase gifts that are each priced at $5 or less.

"Dickens of a Holiday" will also feature the Victorian Tea from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 7 and 14.

"The authentic English tea, which includes delicious pastries, tea sandwiches and scones with Devonshire cream, is served by hostesses in period dresses," according to MainStreet Libertyville officials.

Tickets to the Victorian Tea are $30 per person before Nov. 16. The cost will then rise to $35 per person. Call the MainStreet office at (847) 680-0336 or visit the organization's website to reserve your spot.
