5 Money Saving Travel Tips!

Travel doesn't have to cost an arm or a let if you follow some simple common sense money saving tips!

Travel DOES NOT have to be expensive!

Saving on travel, like saving on groceries is something you should make a point of tracking your savings. Here are some simple ways to save. If you use them compare to what it would have cost you and keep track in a “savings notebook.” This will help you calculate your annual savings.

Five Travel Tips That Can Save You Money!

1.)TRAVEL FOOD-BRING YOUR OWN FOOD! On road trips OR when flying, bring your own snacks. You can save 50% or more on granola bars, trail mix, pre-packaged sealed fruits, nuts, chips etc. (Check with your airline before flying to see what is allowed so nothing goes to waste)

2.) BRING A COOLER: Bring a small cooler when you travel to keep snacks fresh if traveling by car. This allows you to bring along fresh fruit, cartons of milk, etc. without worrying about spoilage. It also helps if you are at a destination with no refrigeration in your room.

3.)BOTTLED WATER; Water is a travel requirement whether you travel by plane or car. Bottled H2O is expensive. If you bring one to the airport you will have to toss it before you go through security. Instead, drink the water, bring the empty through, refill on the other side so you don’t have to buy on the other side. (Seems insignificant but can save you $10 – $20 round trip).

4.) BRING COUPONS! Travel without coupons? Never!Whether you travel by air or by car ALWAYS bring along coupons for items you might need to purchase along the way or at your destination. Coupons for disposable razors, shampoo, shaving cream, deodorant, baby items if traving with young children, and food preference coupons could save you $100′s throughout the course of the trip.

5.) LOW BUDGET TRAVEL ACCOMODATIONS; If your hotel budget is small and you are traveling in the summer months, you can often stay in local college dorms (private and public) if you plan ahead. Always ask if there are pillows and bedding available or if you should bring your own. I found out the hard way! But you could spend $10 – $20 a night instead of $90 – $125. After all you will be unconscious most of the time!)

**Choosing the right hotel could save you enough for a one way ticket from Chicago to Orlando! Using coupons daily when you are traveling could pay for your airline trip back!
