Father's Day @ A Discount!

Father's Day Breaking Your Bank? You don't have to be the "Geico Girl" to get a "Discount!!" Father's day doesn't have to burn a hole in your debit card either. I dug up some good deals!

Father’s Day on the Cheap!

Father’s Day is quickly approaching so if you haven’t given any thought to what you are doing on Sunday, here are a few suggestions that might not blow your budget for the month.   Also, don’t kid yourself, men can be just as mushy about Father’s day as we Mom’s are about Mother’s day.  Seriously, a sincere card or hand written letters elicits tears and gratitude from me faster than a new toaster for sure!   Since we are all experiencing some financial stress and strain see if any of these suggestions ring your bells for Father’s Day;

Check Out these Father’s Day Ideas on the Cheap!  Dad Will Love Them!

1) Recycled DVD’s.  Price:  FREE.  What man doesn’t watch TV at least some of the time?  How about gathering together the DVD’s in your family room that no one has watched for awhile, or at least those that you might not want to watch again?  Trade them up with friends and family and give your dad’s the chance to relax with some free uninterrupted TV time?  Wrap them up with some microwave popcorn and you are set! I’ve done this and gathered the “previewed” DVDs by genre; How about “Top Ten Horror Films” on his list–and your promise to (eek) to watch with him?

2) Number one Father’s Day Gift?  Ties! How many ties that never get worn are lurking in your closets?  How about a trade on ties?  Just make sure that you are nabbing ties that your dad or significant other isn’t saving for his favorite ensemble! Trade with other family members and you each give the others as gifts. If nothing else, think of the conversation.

3) Car Wash Coupons! If your favorite dad enjoys a professional car-wash but hesitates because of the expense, check out your favorite car spa for buy-one-get-one free deals and wrap it up with a Sham Wow for a little panache!

4) Sports Nut? If your dad or husband loves sports you have a lot of choices. These days major league baseball tickets are as expensive as if someone (hint) wanted to take me to a Bon Jovi concert. However, have you given any thought to a minor league game? Most counties have some great minor league baseball, football and hockey teams that really get the fan’s blood moving. How about a Sunday afternoon minor league game and lunch for the whole family?

5) Hobbies; So you have a fisherman/dad in your household? Buy the “fixin’s” to tie your own/his own lures? Make an afternoon of it, get some Skin so Soft to keep the mosquitoes away and give a gift certificate for “lunch & Fishin’”. There is nothing better than the gift of your time and interest in your “significant Father”.

**Just a side note:  Did you ever check out a Good Will Store, Salvation Army Store or Thrift shop for a father’s day gift?  Or even a Play it Again Sports or local thrift shop! You can’t believe what you can find–seriously–golf stuff, new golf shirts, fishing gear, crazy Hawaiian shirts, it is worth a stop, you might find a white elephant that your dad woud love for a BUCK!
