It's Over, and It Was Amazing!

Here's a quick recap of the North Shore Wine, Beer, Cigar, and Food Festival, the annual Save Brainerd fundraiser.

Well, the Second Annual North Shore Wine, Beer, Cigar, and Food Festival is now just a warm, smoky memory, but wow, what a party it was! More than 1,500 people attended and enjoyed the gorgeous weather while sampling tasties while grooving to the excellent music, camaraderie, and lots of laughs. Kudos to all the volunteers who put the festival together (and took it down). I would especially like to comment on the classiness of the people who attended--cleanup was a breeze as the grounds had very little trash to pick up.

Of course, one of the highlights of the festival was the chance to tour the fabulous Brainerd Building, which had been cleaned and polished to welcome curious visitors. Many who went through had actually attended school there, and stories both funny and poignant filled the air. Those who came in for the first time commented on what a beautiful building it was, and how it would make a great community center. Thank you, thank you, we tend to agree. The old girl really cleaned up well with just a little elbow grease. Imagine what she could look like, with a little more TLC (and money) and a little renovation (using that money).

If you would like to be kept informed on the progress of the Brainerd Community Center, why not subscribe to our free online newsletter? It's chatty and colorful, and will arrive as a PDF each month--we promise not to spam you with lots of other stuff. Just send a note to us at brainerd.center@yahoo.com and say you want the newsletter.
