Conspiracy Warrant Arrest

MEDIA RELEASE

On January 15, 2014 a multiagency operation between the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Lake County Probation, and the United States Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force resulted in the arrest of Latanya R. Anderson, 37, of the 4100 Block of Continental Dr in Waukegan.

Anderson was wanted on an arrest warrant for heroin trafficking conspiracy resulting in death by the U.S. Marshals Service and the Drug Enforcement Administration.  She was the last defendant on the run of 5 charged during the indictment.  The arrest warrant was issued on May 23, 2013 by the United States District Court.  According to the arrest warrant:

1.      Beginning in or about May 2010 and continuing to the present, in Tazewell County, within the Central District of Illinois, and elsewhere, MONTA Y. ANDERSON, DIONDRE  P. HARRIS, WALTER NEALY IV, LELAND D. JONES and LATANYA R. ANDERSON,  did knowingly conspire, confederate, and agree with persons whose names are known and with persons whose names are unknown to the Grand Jury, to commit certain acts in violation of the laws of the United States, to wit:  to knowingly distribute heroin, a Schedule I controlled substance, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(1)(A).

2.      This conspiracy involved more than 1000 grams of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of heroin, a Schedule I controlled substance.

3.      In furtherance of the conspiracy and to accomplish its objective of distributing heroin, the defendants and both persons known and persons unknown to the grand jury did commit overt acts, including but not limited to the following:

A.    During the period of the conspiracy, individuals would travel to Chicago to obtain heroin and bring it back to the Central District of Illinois;

B.     During the period of the conspiracy, individuals would distribute heroin to other individuals.

4.       As a result of this conspiracy, death and serious bodily injury resulted from the use of the mixture and substance containing heroin.

All in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 846 and 841(b)(1)(A).

Anderson was held in the Lake County Jail until January 16, 2014 when the U.S. Marshals Service extradited her.  The warrant was a no bail warrant.
