Fox Lake Man Charged with Child Pornography

In January of 2014 the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Cybercrimes Unit with assistance from special investigators of the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office conducted a child pornography investigation which resulted in the execution of a search warrant.

On March 6, 2014 the search warrant was executed and Stephen A. O’Dette, 61, of the 0-100 block of Highview Ave in Fox Lake, was arrested at his residence.  Evidence was seized from the residence which included electronic devices capable of storing electronic media.  A forensic examination of the electronic devices identified numerous pornographic images, many of which were identified to be child pornography.

O’Dette was charged with six counts of Possession of Child Pornography (three Class 2 Felonies and three Class 3 Felonies).

O’Dette’s bond was set at $300,000.00.  He is scheduled to appear in court on March 24, 2014.

Based on the extensive amount of pornography located on the electronic media, further investigation will be conducted to determine if additional charges will be sought on the devices seized.
