Two Men Charged with Ingleside and Lake Villa Residential Burglaries

On January 18, 2014 the Lake County Sheriff’s Office charged two men with burglary.  They were responsible for a number of residential burglaries in Ingleside and Lake Villa.

Beginning in December five residences in Ingleside and Lake Villa were burglarized.  The Lake County Sheriff’s detective investigating the cases knew certain items were stolen during one of the burglaries.  Information was then developed on a man attempting to pawn items matching the stolen items to pawn shops throughout Lake County. 

A warrant for 2 counts of theft (Class 4 Felony) was obtained for George E. Tapia, 25, of the 1800 Block of Tomahawk Dr in Round Lake Heights and a warrant for 2 counts of theft (Class 3 Felony, Class 4 Felony) was obtained for Daniel Ortiz, 30, of the 1200 Block of Lotus Dr in Round Lake Beach.

On January 18, 2014 Tapia and Ortiz were arrested on the theft warrants.  Tapia admitted to burglarizing 5 residences and was charged with 5 counts of residential burglary (Class 1 Felony).

Tapia’s jail bond is set at $250,000.00.  He is scheduled to appear in court on February 5, 2014.

Ortiz’s jail bond is set at $250,000.00.  He is scheduled to appear in court on February 5, 2014.

Additional charges are pending against both Tapia and Ortiz.
