Good Friday Worship Services at Grace Lutheran Church

Two worship services will be held on Friday, April 6 to commemorate Good Friday. At 1 p.m., we will hold a Good Friday Family Worship Service in our Chapel. A light lunch will be served in Cafe Grace at 12:30 p.m. Then at 7 p.m. we will hold our Good Friday Service of Darkness in the Sanctuary.

The Church will be open for prayer from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Come and join us for worship. Grace Lutheran Church is located at 501 Valley Park Drive, Libertyville, one block north of Weil Cadillac and Hummer, east of Milwaukee Avenue on Valley Park Drive.

The Gathering

Located on Libertyville's Main Street, 545 North, is a great place to meet up with friends for lunch or escape after a long workweek. Stop in to enjoy live music Wednesday through Saturday around 10 p.m. 545 has a great outdoor patio and fireplace to enjoy dinning spring through fall.

 

RE/Max Center's 15th Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Join the fun and come early, allowing time for parking and getting to the starting line. The hunt starts at 11:30 a.m. SHARP! It is geared for ages 1-9, children hunt in three age categories. There will be more than 7,500 eggs and 300 prizes! This is a FREE event. Bring non-perishable food items to fill our township food pantry, helping those in need. There will be time for photos with the Easter bunny and his friends before and after the hunt so bring your camera!

 

Smooth, Latin, Swing, Hustle & Line Dance at Dress Up & Dance!

For Ballroom at it's very best...including Foxtrot, Swing, Waltz and all the rest! There will be open dance for all styles. This is a non-alcohol establishment. There will be a $1 beverage bar, with sparkling juice, soda, and water.

Lake Forest Annual Easter Egg Hunt & Magic Show

Enjoy a wonderful opportunity for family fun at our Annual Easter Egg Hunt. Bring your basket for the egg hunt, take your picture with the Easter Bunny, play games and win prizes. Easter Wine Tasting at Grand Cru Wine Merchants

Easter is upon us! Kurt Y from Cream wine will be on hand to pour a great assortment, perfect to accompany your Easter celebration. The tasting is from 1-4pm and is free of charge. No RSVP is needed. 

Grand Cru Wine Merchants sells a wide range of wine from around the world, as well as grappa, bourbon, vermouth, mixers, vodka, tequila and beer. Its wines come from Argentina, Italy, Australia, Chile, France, New Zealand and Napa Valley. Grand Cru also sells glassware, corkscrews and accessories.

This event is open to non-members, so please bring a friend.

The Grille on Laurel is reminiscent of the old elegant supper club era, with an upscale, clubby ambience. Serving classic dishes such as shrimp dejonghe, steaks, lamb chops, and a Vesuvio-style whitefish, this restaurant has an extensive wine list and a martini bar, along with live entertainment in the lounge.

 

Christ Renews His Parish

The Church of St. Mary, a regal and grandiose church located near downtown Lake Forest, is a full-service Catholic Church led by Father Michael McGovern. The Church's active and vibrant community includes a Catholic school and youth ministries and education. They have an abundance of social and religious programs, including the COR Youth Ministry, the Guild of St. Mary, the Metro847 College & Young Adult ministry and their religious education program.

The Church of St. Mary's provides several unique programs for Catholics in Lake Forest and the surrounding Chicago area, such as their pastoral care for divorced Catholics and SPRED, a religious education program designed for those with developmental disabilities.

Weekend mass services are held on Saturday at 5pm and Sunday at 7:30 a.m., 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12 p.m., and 6 p.m. They also offer weekday services.

COR Meeting

St. Mary's COR Youth Ministry is the Church of St. Mary's high school ministry. Its mission is to provide a welcoming and safe environment for teens to explore their Catholic faith while encountering the typical issues of young adulthood. Lillie Romeiser is the youth minister. COR Youth Ministry provides special ministry events for high-school-aged young adults, such as the summer Appalachia trip, a bible study and a soup kitchen ministry. It also offers spiritual retreats for youths to explore their faith. COR meets every Sunday in the parish center from 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.

Kennedy Road and Illinois Route 60, Lake Forest. Created in two phases starting in 2007, the purchase and development of Townline Community Park actually began in 1995 with the comprehensive park and facilities plan. The park was the first priority following the city's purchase of 30 to 40 acres in the Route 60 (Townline Road)  corridor. Community input provided the park amenities, and in 2002 residents approved a $6 million referendum to buy and develop the site.

 

Festive Activities Herald the Arrival of Spring at Or Shalom

Congregation Or Shalom welcomes spring with some special programming treats. Everyone loves a good scandal. After investigating rumors of an old family scandal that took place in Chicago during the Roaring Twenties, genealogist and Grayslake resident Robin B. Seidenberg uncovered a story that made sensational newspaper headlines across the nation. 

At 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, Congregation Or Shalom will host “The Kissing Blonde: Researching a Family Scandal.” During this free presentation, Seidenberg will reveal an intriguing tale of romance, betrayal, wealth, jealousy and murder.  Discover the identity of the "Kissing Blonde" and learn how Robin researched historical newspapers to unravel this family mystery.
