'Feed My Starving Children' Signs Lease on Park Avenue Building

Feed My Starving Children is on track to open its meal-packing facility in Libertyville now that it has officially signed a lease on a Park Avenue building.

The Christian organization will be located at 742 E. Park Ave.

In a press release issued by the organization Aug. 30, Executive Director and CEO Mark Crea said "we're hiring staff in Libertyville and building out the space right now."

. The Minnesota-based organization is expected to bring in 180,000 volunteers per year who could pack 40 million meals.

This will be the third Feed My Starving Children site in the Chicago area, the other two being in Schaumburg and Aurora.

The basic meal that volunteers will pack is called the MannaPack Rice. Designed by food scientists at Cargill and General Mills, the product consists of rice, extruded soy nuggets, dehydrated vegetables, and a blend of 20 vitamins and minerals.

Volunteers are already being sought through the Feed My Starving Children "Launch in Libertyville!" site.
