Drowning Victim’s Father: She Slipped off the Rocks After Run

A visitation for 32-year-old Rebecca Long of Lake Forest will be held Friday and a service on Saturday.

The 32-year-old Lake Forest woman whose body was pulled from the lake last week likely slipped off a rock wall while trying to cool off after a run and then couldn’t get out of the frigid water, her father told TribLocal.

Rebecca Long died after an extensive search for a swimmer in distress off Forest Park Beach was unable to save her and her body was pulled from the lake a few hours later. She was wearing running clothes at the time.

Her father, Gerard Long, of Lake Forest, is a former banking executive who became executive director of Alpha USA, a Christian ministry organization based out of Bannockburn, the TribLocal article says. The family moved to Lake Forest in 2003 and Rebecca lived with her parents.
