Betty Lou Hess, 87, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014 at the Westmoreland Care Center in Lake Forest.
She was born July 30, 1926 in Hollywood, CA, was a former 40-year resident of Deerfield and has lived in Vernon Hills for the past 12 years. Betty was active as a Stephen Minister when she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Deerfield and was currently a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Libertyville. She enjoyed traveling and loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Lou (Patricia) Hess of Maryville, MO and Vicky (Jack) Nicholson of Libertyville; three grandchildren, Alexander Hess, Jack and Jamie Nicholson; and her brother, Jack (Jane) Monett. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2014 at the Burnett-Dane Funeral Home Ltd., 120 W. Park Ave. (Route 176, one block west of Milwaukee Avenue), Libertyville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, 219 W. Maple, Libertyville.
