Obituary: Dr. Milford C. Tassler

Services have been scheduled for Dr. Milford C. Tassler of Libertyville.

Dr. Milford C. Tassler of Libertyville passed away Saturday, September 29, 2012 on his 91st birthday. He was born in Sebeka, MN in 1921. He graduated from Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati in 1939 where he received a Westinghouse Scholarship to attend The Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh. While there he met and married Norma Helen Lewis. He enlisted in the Army in 1942 and as as first leutenant of the148th Combat Engineer Battalion stormed the beaches of Normandy. After his honorable discharge from the Army in 1945 he returned to Carnegie Tech, completing his B.S. in 1947. He continued his studies at the University of Illinois in Urbana, completing his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in 1951. He began his career with Dupont and retired as Vice President of Research and Develoment at Masonite Corporation, Chicago.

Milford and Norma were 45-year residents of St. Charles, Illinois, where they were members of the Hosana Lutheran Church. While living at Spring Meadows, Libertyville, they joined Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his three sons, Paul (Tierny) Tassler of St. Joseph, MO, Dr. Stephen (Nancy) Tassler of Libertyville, Michael (May Ying) Tassler of Colorado Springs and by his six grandchildren, Eric, Matthew, Hannah, Andrew, Peter, and Ashton.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Norma, in February, 2010.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 6 from 1 PM until the time of service at 2 PM at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 29700 N. St. Mary's Rd. Libertyville, IL 60048.
