Helen Obenauf (nee Szewczyk), 89 of Libertyville died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012 in her home. She was born Aug. 26, 1923 in Chicago and had been a Libertyville resident for over 45 years, Helen had retired from the Veterans Administration of North Chicago after more than 30 years of service. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish, Libertyville, a skillful gardener, a shrewd garage saler and an avid reader.
Helen is survived by her loving daughters Laura Obenauf and Melissa Graves, she was the proud grandmother of Alexander and Benjamin Graves, the dearest sister of Joseph (Eleanor) Szewczyk, a dear aunt and great aunt and was the devoted wife of the late Roger.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7 at St. Joseph Church, 121 East Maple Ave., Libertyville, where there will be visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Interment Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, IL. If desired, memorial donations made to the American Heart Assn. 208 S. LaSalle St., Chicago, IL. 60604-1242 would be greatly appreciated.
