Obituary: Jelisavka "Elizabeth" Marcetich

Services have been scheduled for Jelisavka "Elizabeth" Marcetich.

Jelisavka "Elizabeth" Marcetich, 97, transferred from this earthly life to the Church of Heaven on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 at the Libertyville Manor.

She was born Oct. 27, 1915 in Sarejevo, Bosnia and came to live in the USA in 1946. She was a former resident of East Chicago, IN and lived at the New Gracanica Monastery in Third Lake since 1986. She was a past president of the Circle of Serbian Sisters, both regional and national and was the official hostess for the Metropolitan and Bishop, while at the Monastery.

Surviving are many Kumovi and friends in the Serbian community, including; Very Rev. Fr. Jovan and Mirijana Todorovich, Nada and Christian Jimenez and Zoran and Dobrinka Milic. She was preceded in death by her husband, Very Rev. Fr. Stavrofor Jovan "John" Marcetich on Jan. 31, 1993; by her sister, Zorica; and brothers, Tihomir and Dusan.

Funeral services and interment will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at the New Gracanica Monastery, 35240 N. Grant St., Third Lake, IL 60030. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176, one block west of Milwaukee Ave.) Libertyville, where the pomen service will be held at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions to either New Gracanica Monastery or the Children's Camp at the Monastery would be appreciated.
