Obituary: LaVerne Marie Despot

Private services are being held for LaVerne Marie Despot of Libertyville.

LaVerne Marie Despot (nee Chase) 70, of Libertyville, IL, peacefully departed this life on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Advocate Condell Medical Center. She was born on February 13, 1932 in Chicago, the daughter of Harry and Evelyn (Ginter) Chase. She was a graduate of Senn High School in Chicago and attended Northern Illinois University. For many years LaVerne worked in Civil service positions, mainly at Fort Sheridan and Great Lakes. She spent much of the middle of her life in Deerfield, IL, where she raised her children, with residence in Libertyville before and after Deerfield. LaVerne married Daniel Despot on November 26, 1955 and they enjoyed 57 years together of work, play and travel. She especially enjoyed cruises to exotic locales. She also delighted in collecting unique and beautiful objects during her travels and used them to skillfully decorate her home. Surviving are her loving husband, Daniel; her children, Janet Weir of Sylvania, Ohio and Thomas (Liza) Dean of San Juan Capistrano, CA; grandchildren, Whitney Dean, Katherine, Julia and William Weir and her sister, Madelyn (Herman) Moller of Golden, CO. She will be greatly missed. Private services are being held from the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME in Libertyville. Contributions to the Multiple Sclerosis Society would be appreciated.
