Obituary: Leo Buttitta

Services have been scheduled for Leo Buttitta.

Leo Buttitta, 89, of Libertyville, died Sunday Feb. 3 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 4, 1923 in Chicago where he lived his entire life. He was a graduate of Waller High School and served in the infantry with the US Army in Europe from 1943-1946 where he was wounded, receiving the Purple Heart Medal for his efforts. Following the war, he met Mary Matesi and enjoyed 52 years of marriage until her death in 2005. Leo loved to be with his family, sitting around the kitchen table telling stories. He is survived by his devoted son Anthony Daniel (Vicky) Buttitta, his adored grandchildren Paul, Barbi and Mary Ann, his dearest siblings Pete, Tony, Rose, Joseph and Sam and his many dear nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday Feb. 8 from 4-8 p.m. at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Place, Libertyville (Rt 176, 1 Blk East of Milwaukee Ave). Private family Entombment services with military honors will be Saturday at All Saints Mausoleum, Des Plaines, IL. Funeral information (847) 362-2626.
