Mariann M. Mayer nee Obenauf, 64, of Mundelein, passed away August 23, 2013 in Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights. Mariann was born in Waukegan and was raised in rural Mundelein on a farm. She graduated from St. Mary’s grade school in Fremont Center, Mundelein High School and Marquette University School of Dental Hygiene in 1968. Mariann practiced as a dental hygienist for 40 years and as an active member of St. Mary of the Annunciation parish, Fremont Center.
Mariann is survived by her devoted husband Tim of almost 41 years of marriage; her loving children Kate (David) Tekampe, Anne Mayer and Michael Mayer; her dearest brother and sister Willian (Mary Lou) Obenauf and Priscilla “Toots” (Ted) Binzel; and she was the proud aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Michael and Priscilla Obenauf and her dearest brother Richard “Archie” (Joan) Obenauf.
Funeral Mass will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30 in St. Mary’s Church (the old church) 22333 W. Erhart Road, Fremont Center. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and Friday Morning from 10-11 a.m. at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Place, Libertyville (Route 176 one block East of Milwaukee Avenue).
