Obituary: Martin (Marty) James Halvorsen

Martin (Marty) James Halvorsen, 77, passed away on Jan. 18, 2013 at his home in Lake Zurich with his children by his side. He was born on May 13, 1935 in Prairie View (Aptakisic Rd.) to Ralph and Anna (Weidner) Halvorsen. Marty grew up in Aptakisic and graduated from Ela Vernon High School in Lake Zurich in 1953. He worked for Meyer Material Co. as a Dispatcher for 52 years.

Marty is survived by his loving family; daughter Heidi (Brian) Houlihan, son Marc Halvorsen, and daughter Holli (Kelly) Cipowski, daughter- in-law Nancy Halvorsen; brother Ralph Halvorsen; grandchildren Sean (Fiancé Sara) Halverson, Amy Halvorsen, Corey (Fiancé Hayley) Houlihan, Kevin Houlihan and Hunter Cipowski; his many nieces and nephews and other loving relatives; and his former wife Billie Sue Sutter.

Marty was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Anna; his siblings Doris, Richard, LaRaine, Harvey, LaVerne, Donna Mae, Anita, David; and his son Marty Halvorsen.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Family requests memorial donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeastern IL, 405 Lake Zurich Road, Barrington, IL 60054. Funeral arrangements were made by McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 847-362-2626.
