Shiaohong Ran, Ph.D., 53, passed away on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. She was born Jan. 22, 1960, in Chengdu, China, and came to live in the United States in 1992. She received her Ph.D. from Northern Illinois University and was a former employee of Abbott Laboratories. Surviving are her husband, Shaoqing Du, and daughter, Constance Iris Du, both of Vernon Hills; her mother, Minzheng Wang; and brother, Xiaonong Ran. Private services for her family are being held from the Burnett-Dane Funeral Home in Libertyville. Interment will be in Vernon Cemetery in Lincolnshire. For information, call 847-362-3009.
