Obituary: Victor A. Laska

Services have been scheduled for Victor A. Laska of Libertyville.

Victor A. Laska, 79, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, in Libertyville. He was born Oct. 17, 1932, in Chicago, and had lived in Libertyville and Green Oaks for the past 52 years. He was a combat veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Libertyville American Legion Post #329. He was the former owner of North Shore Sign in Libertyville and was a former director of the Illinois Sign Association and division director for the World Sign Associates. Vic was very involved in his community, a member of St. Joseph Parish, past chairman of the Libertyville Chamber of Commerce, member of the Plan Commission of Green Oaks for 10 years, member of the Libertyville Fire Protection District and Libertyville Lions Club, and former member of the City Club of Waukegan. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Barbara Laska; three children, Kevin Laska and Duane (Patti) Laska, both of Libertyville and Karyn Pierro of Nina. WI; 10 grandchildren, Emily, Molly, Hailey, Matthew, Brett, Kyle and Marc Laska, and Christopher, Alexander and Sarah Pierro; and his sister, Marlene (Richard) Wincheski. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy and Lucille; and his daughter-in-law, Michelle "Mickey" Laska. Prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at the , 120 W. Park Ave. (Route 176, one block west of Milwaukee Ave.), Libertyville, and services will continue to St. Joseph Church, for a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow at Ascension Cemetery.
