Obituary: World War II Veteran Daryl E. Luce

Services have been scheduled for Daryl E. Luce of Libertyville.

Daryl E. Luce, 86, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at the Winchester House in Libertyville.

He was born June 1, 1926 in Libertyville, where he remained a resident all his life. He was a 1944 graduate of LHS, followed by serving in the South Pacific with the US Army during WW II. After the war, he was a graduate of Lake Forest College and received his MBA from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management. Daryl was a retired employee of the Frank G. Hough/International Harvester Corporation, was a charter member of the Libertyville VFW Post and enjoyed golf and fishing. He was a gifted athlete and excelled in football and softball in high school and college. He also enjoyed bowling his entire life and was proud of his 300 game.

He is survived by his wife Ruth Luce of Libertyville, 3 children; Kathy (Joseph) Briestansky of Clarendon Hills, Karen (David) Branding, and Scott (Kaarn) Luce, both of Libertyville, 7 Grandchildren; Alison, Michael, Tracy, Lisa, Kristen, Stephanie and Shaun, his sister Adagene McCormick of Libertyville. He was preceded in death by his brother, Arden Luce.

A visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2013 at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (Route 176, one block west of Milwaukee Ave.) Libertyville. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sat. March 16, at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Lakeside Cemetery Renovation Fund, P.O. Box 500, Libertyville, IL 60048.
