Obituary: World War II Veteran Otis T. Whitlow

Otis T. Whitlow, 94, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2013 in Lincolnshire.

He was born Aug. 23, 1918 in Strawn, IL and was a graduate of IL State University with a degree in education. He was also a veteran of the US Coast Guard, having served during WW II and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Libertyville. Otis was a facilities engineer at Great Lakes for 22 years and retired as an estimator for General Construction in Chicago in 1981. He enjoyed spending winters in Bradenton, FL, was a very good young basketball player and later played golf.

Surviving are his wife Wilma Jean Whitlow; daughter, Kathy (Charles) Gildemeister of Libertyville; three grandchildren, Kevin (Alison) Gildemeister, Karen (Anthony) Ceriale and Bridget Whitlow(Denise Krawitz); three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Katelyn and Parker. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of services at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the Burnett-Dane Funeral Home Ltd., 120 W.
