CHOICE OF GUN... FOR CONCEAL CARRY?

The choice is an important one and one that needs to be considered carefully. Some folks like a small semi-automatic, like a glock, but do not want to keep a round in the chamber... because their is no manual safety on a Glock Pistol. Many CCW folks like wheel guns, or otherwise known as Revolvers. The stiff trigger pull of a double action small frame Revolver makes it a very reliable yet safe gun for even a beginning CCW Permit holder to use. It can be fired repeatedly from inside a special compartment of a womans purse, without jamming, which can happen with a semi-automatic. This allows a woman to have her hand on her gun, ready to fire, if need be...without exposing the gun, a great way to be ready, without brandishing the firearm. This is especially important in an urban environment, say a dark Parking Garage or walking in a remote area, like an ally or empty building. The caliber and type of ammunition is important too, there is a wide range of types of calibers and ammo. I suggest that you do not use anything less than a 9mm or .38 Special. A good firearms training course is a must and you can always get good advice from those trainers. There are places that will allow you to rent a firearm for shooting at the range, this is a great way to really know what you like or don't like...before you buy it! Check out places like Maxon's Guns in Des Plaines, Article 2, Gat Guns, Red Dot Firearms in Lake Villa, Cabela's in Hoffman Estates, Bass Pro-shop in Gurnee. Get your FOID, Get your Training Completed and application sent in... Conceal Carry is the fastest growing trend in Illinois.
