I'm Korrina Grom, the new editor of Libertyville Patch!
I am so excited to become part of this fantastic community. I'm a life-long Lake County resident and I've been a journalist for nearly 14 years. I've officially been with Patch for a year now. I spent the past year as the editor of Lake Zurich Patch.
I decided to take on this new position partly because I live super close to Libertyville. But I have also always liked Libertyville — especially the vibrant downtown. Plus, I used to cover years ago when I worked as a reporter at Pioneer Press.
So, let me tell you a little about myself:
- I love being a journalist. I decided to pursue this career after a visit to the Milwaukee Journal during high school. After receiving my Bachelor's degree in journalism, I worked at a now-defunct community newspaper for a year before joining Pioneer Press, where I worked for 11 and a half years. Then I joined Patch, and it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. It's such a great place to work!
- I'm a weather geek. My fellow Patch editors in northern Illinois know me as their "Patch Weather Girl." I'm a trained severe weather spotter and, armed with my trusty weather radio (and my obsession with the National Weather Service website), you can count on me to let you know if there's bad weather headed our way.
- I love music. My favorite band of all time is the Smashing Pumpkins. I've met frontman Billy Corgan a couple of times (but I haven't yet achieved my dream of chatting with him over a cup of coffee. Maybe someday?). I also love George Michael, Prince, the Beatles, Mariah Carey, Dave Matthews Band, Florence + the Machine, 80s new wave songs and, yes, Lady Gaga.
So there's a little about me. And now it's time for me to get to know Libertyville. What do you want me to know about your community? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section, or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
See you around town!
