Nation Wide Study shows More Gun Laws Result in Lower Gun Deaths, so Congress Filibusters Gun Law Advocate
Analysis of the nearly 122,000 gun deaths in 2007-2010 by researchers in Centers for Disease Control and Prevention published online in JAMA Internal Medicine, found that in states with the most gun control laws, far fewer people were killed with guns than in states with the fewest laws. Overall, states with the most laws had a 42 percent lower gun death rate than states with the fewest laws.
The average annual gun death rate ranged from almost 3 per 100,000 in Hawaii to 18 per 100,000 in Louisiana. Hawaii had 16 gun laws, and along with New Jersey, New York and Massachusetts was among states with the most laws and fewest deaths. States with the fewest laws and most deaths included Alaska, Kentucky, Louisiana and Oklahoma.
As a result of such studies, researchers and doctors signed a petition urging President Barack Obama and Congress to pass gun safety legislation. President Obama’s nominee for Surgeon General, Vivek Hallegere Murthy, an outstanding candidate, advocates for tighter gun control restrictions as a public health issue. Congressional cowards promptly rejected his nomination, bootlicking the bloody shoes of the NRA. Congress would rather see countless thousands of needless gun deaths in America, rather than stand up to the NRA. Since January 1, 2014, 3952 people have been injured, and 2,450 killed by guns in America, and Congress fiddles.
