Accident Leads to DUI Arrest

The following information is from the Libertyville Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

DUI

At 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 23, police responded to Route 45, just south of Tempel Drive for a report of a traffic crash with injuries involving a pickup truck and a flatbed trailer. Both the driver and the passenger in the pickup truck were entrapped and were extricated by the fire department. The driver of the pickup, his passenger, and the driver of the flatbed trailer were transported to Condell Hospital. The passenger and the driver of the trailer were subsequently released from the hospital.

While questioning the driver of the pickup, David Barbour, 27, of Grayslake, police said they smelled the odor of alcohol. Additionally, blood tests during the regular course of emergency medical treatment at confirmed that he was under the influence of alcohol, according to police reports.

Barbour was placed under arrest, and when released from the hospital, he was processed at the police department and charged with DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper lane usage. He was later released from police custody after posting a $1,000 personal recognizance bond pending a February 28, 9 a.m. court date at the Lake County Courthouse.

On Jan. 26 at 4:10 a.m. at the Libertyville Police Department, police arrested Crushaunna L. Tayfel, 33, of Green Oaks, for driving under the influence of alcohol. Tayfel had asked for police assistance regarding a domestic problem and during questioning, police smelled the odor of alcohol. She was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which she failed, and she was arrested and charged. After processing, she was released on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond pending a February 28, 9 a.m. court date at the Lake County Courthouse.

Warrant arrest

Gloria E. Lopez, 31, of Libertyville, was stopped at 7:35 p.m. on Jan. 20 for a possible expired vehicle registration in the parking lot of the Moraine East Apartment Complex. A records check revealed that she was wanted on an active warrant from Lake County for failing to appear in court and she was arrested and taken into custody. Lopez was unable to post bond and was subsequently remanded to the Lake County Jail.
