No one was injured during a kitchen fire that prompted the evacuation of a downtown restaurant on Wednesday evening.
The received a call at 8:07 p.m. that there was a fire at , 532 N. Milwaukee Ave.
People had evacuated the building by the time firefighters responded to the scene.
“Fire was showing out of the exhaust pipe in the back wall of the building,” said Assistant Fire Chief Ken Komers.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No injuries were reported.
“The fire was contained to the ventilation duct for the pizza oven,” Komers said. The fire was out within half an hour.
