Lake County Traffic Enforcement Nets Dozens of Citations

Tickets were issued over the Labor Day weekend for using a cell phone in a construction zone, DUI, driving while license suspended and speeding.

The conducted by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office netted a large number of citations. The following is a list of citations issued from Aug. 31 at 10 a.m. to Sept. 3 at 4 a.m.:

Traffic Citations

  • Driving Under the Influence – 2
  • Speeding In a Construction Zone – 16
  • Using a Cellular Phone in Construction Zone – 43
  • Driving while Suspended / Revoked – 7
  • No Valid Driver’s License – 16
  • Operating Uninsured Motor Vehicle – 16
  • Speeding – 16
  • Failure to Wear Seat Belt/ Improper use Child Restraint – 7
  • Equipment Violations – 10
  • Registration Violations – 8
  • Miscellaneous Traffic Violations – 15

In addition to traffic citations, the following non-traffic violations were issued:

  • Possession of Cannabis – 4
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – 4
  • Obstructing a Peace Officer – 1

Two persons were also arrested on outstanding warrants.

“Our highway deputies are to be commended for keeping the motoring public safe over a notoriously busy holiday weekend,” said Sheriff Mark Curran. “They are a dedicated group of men and women.”
