Lengthy Stop at Stop Sign Leads to DUI Arrest

The following information is from the Libertyville Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a guilt.

DUI, Texting while driving

At 1:35 a.m. on Feb. 1, Patrick Thomas Graham, age 47, of Libertyville, was stopped by police on Cook Street near Lange Court after he was seen stopped at a stop sign for an unusually long time with his driver’s side tires slightly over the median line, according to police. During the traffic stop, Graham stated he was texting while driving.

The officer also smelled alcohol on Graham’s breath and he was asked to perform field sobriety tests, police said. Graham failed the sobriety tests and he was arrested and the vehicle towed. He was taken into custody and processed and was later released after posting his driver’s license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond.
